Case Background: A Scam of Part-Time Job Fraud, Money Lost Overnight

In August 2024, Ms. Wang (pseudonym) saw an advertisement for "part-time job fraud" on social media, claiming that as long as she completed the specified tasks, she could earn high commissions. After adding the contact information provided by the other party, she was pulled into a "task group," where members constantly displayed screenshots of high income, claiming that by following the instructions of the "customer service," she could easily make money.

Initially, Ms. Wang tried small-scale tasks, and indeed received commissions, which relaxed her guard. Subsequently, the "customer service" encouraged her to increase her investment, claiming that "only after completing the last task could she withdraw, otherwise her previous earnings would be frozen." Under the other party's repeated pressure, Ms. Wang transferred funds to the account provided by the other party, totaling five yuan. However, when she requested to withdraw, she was told that the account was abnormal and needed to pay an additional fee to unfreeze it. Ms. Wang realized something was wrong and requested a refund, but all customer service and group members disappeared, and she only realized she had been scammed by a part-time job fraud.

Ms. Wang immediately reported the incident to the police and filed a complaint with the bank, but due to the rapid dispersal of funds to multiple accounts, the bank was unable to directly recover the funds. In desperation, she found the Global Anti-Fraud Alliance on the internet, hoping to recover her losses through a professional team.

How the Global Anti-Fraud Alliance Helped Ms. Wang

After receiving the request for help, the Global Anti-Fraud Alliance immediately launched an emergency fund tracking and legal process.

Step 1: Immediate Freezing of Involved Accounts to Prevent Fund Outflow

The team immediately took the following measures:

Guided Ms. Wang to collect all transaction records, chat screenshots, and transfer receipts, which could be used as evidence for.

Through the cooperation of financial institutions, quickly query the involved accounts, and submit a request for fund freezing to the relevant banks and payment platforms.

Jointly with domestic and international payment security teams, lock the fund flow, and add risk warnings to suspicious accounts to prevent more victims from being scammed.

In this stage, the team successfully froze two collection accounts of the fraud gang for Ms. Wang, and about 15,000 yuan of funds were not completely transferred.

Step 2: Deeply Track the Fund Flow to Lock the Fraud Network

To recover the funds that have already been transferred, the anti-fraud investigation team of the Global Anti-Fraud Alliance used the financial risk control system and cross-border fund flow analysis to investigate the fund chain of the part-time job fraud.

It was found that the fraud funds were divided into batches through multiple personal accounts and finally flowed into an overseas virtual currency exchange.

Through the assistance of cooperation institutions, the fraud gang's used electronic wallets were tracked, and a request for freezing the illegal funds was submitted.

Further analysis of the fraud gang's operating model found that they deceived victims by faking part-time tasks and hiring "tollers" to create a false impression of making money, encouraging victims to continuously invest.

Step 3: Legal Intervention to Promote Fund Recovery

Submit fraud evidence to the law enforcement departments of the involved country, cooperate with the police to conduct investigations, and request an arrest warrant for the fraud gang.

Through legal means, file a lawsuit against the fraudsters, promote collective by victims, and increase the pressure on banks and payment platforms for compensation.

Provide concrete evidence to the overseas exchange, request the freezing of the assets in the fraud account, and assist the victims in initiating fund recovery.

After two months of effort, Ms. Wang's bank agreed to cancel some fraudulent transactions and refund her three yuan loss. In addition, some fraud funds were recovered, and Ms. Wang finally successfully recovered four yuan loss.

Case Result: Successfully Recovered Most of the Lost Funds, the Fraud Gang Under Control

Under the intervention of the Global Anti-Fraud Alliance, Ms. Wang not only recovered most of the lost funds, but the case also attracted the attention of relevant regulatory bodies. The involved bank strengthened transaction reviews, and social media platforms also increased their efforts to combat "part-time job fraud" to prevent more people from being scammed.

Case Lessons: How to Avoid Part-Time Job Fraud

Any part-time job that requires advance payment is a scam, and legitimate work will not require individuals to pay in advance.

Do not trust high-return promises, as fraudsters usually use high commissions to lure victims into their traps.

Be wary of part-time job ads on social media, as these ads are often carefully planned by fraudsters.
